Saigon’s rooftop scene has grown significantly in the last decade, and the quality gap between the best and worst is wide. Some rooftop bars in District 1 have genuinely spectacular views, excellent cocktails, and food that would justify going even without the view. Others are mediocre bars charging three times the normal price for the novelty of being on a high floor. This guide is honest about which is which.
What to expect (and what not to)
Most rooftop venues in Saigon have minimum spend policies or cover charges, particularly on weekends (typically 100,000–200,000 VND per person, redeemable against drinks). Expect to pay 80,000–150,000 VND for a cocktail and 120,000–250,000 VND for a beer at these venues. The food is usually international — pizza, burgers, tapas-style sharing plates — rather than Vietnamese, with a few exceptions.
The best time to visit is 5:30–7pm for golden hour. Arrive early because the best seats fill up. After 8pm, rooftop bars in District 1 can get crowded and loud.
The top options
Chill Skybar (AB Tower, 76A Lê Lai, District 1) — on the 26th floor with a 360-degree view of District 1 that includes the river and the city grid. The cocktails are genuinely good. The food is serviceable international. Gets very busy on weekends. Cocktails: 150,000–220,000 VND.
EON Heli Bar (Bitexco Financial Tower, 2 Hai Trieu, District 1) — at the top of the most architecturally distinctive building in the Saigon skyline. The view is unmatched for looking down onto the city grid. Higher prices, more formal dress code. Cocktails: 180,000–280,000 VND.
Shri Restaurant & Lounge (Centec Tower, 72–74 Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 3) — slightly away from the main tourist cluster, with a view that includes more of the residential mid-rise density of the city rather than the central skyline. Genuinely good food (the Vietnamese menu items are better than the international ones). More relaxed atmosphere. Cocktails: 120,000–180,000 VND. Dinner mains: 200,000–380,000 VND.
The Deck Saigon (38 Nguyen U Di, Thao Dien, District 2) — technically a riverside restaurant rather than a rooftop, but the view across the Saigon River and the garden setting makes it worth including. More focused on food than views; the Vietnamese-European menu is better than average. Dinner mains: 250,000–480,000 VND.
The honest summary
The view is better from Chill Skybar or EON Heli Bar. The food and atmosphere are better at Shri or The Deck. If you want to combine a genuinely good dinner with an elevated experience, Shri is the best value. If you want the classic “high above Saigon at sunset” moment, Chill Skybar is the easier choice.
